Pick your line. There are several types of lines. If you are beginner it will be easier to work with a simple line. The lines are divided by weight or thickness. The weight of the line will determine how big your points are going to be, what the look of the finished work and what the needle size you will need to use. It will also set how long you will take until you finish your work. You will see the weight or thickness of the line written on the label, they go from 0-income to 6-robust. Here are some recommended sizes for a baby blanket.
1-Super fine: good for delicate work, quilts with stitches worked.
2-Fine: good for light blankets or even fluffy.
3-Light: Good for hot clothes or even not too heavy blankets.
4-Medium: A little heavy, but very easy to work.
Pick your needle. There are various sizes of crochet needles. Sizes come expressed by numbers or millimeters. In Brazil there is no standardization for these numbers, so it is better to follow the size expressed in millimeters. For example, the 1.75 mm needle of a mark is considered to be number 0, in another mark that same measure is number 2. The heavier the line you choose, the bigger the needle you will need. Here are some suggestions for thread-needle combinations.
Super Thin – 0.6 mm
Thin – 1.0 mm
Lightweight – 1.25 mm
Average – 1.75 mm
